NEW DELHI: CRPF on Sunday organized an awareness campaign on the occasion of World AIDS Day in association with NACO and medical fraternity of the force. A "Run against AIDS" in the form of cycle race and walkathon was organized on Sunday from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to Lal Quila.
The race was flagged off by Ajun awardee Shri Paramjeet Singh, second in command of CRPF who broke ace sprinter Milkha Singh's record in 400 meters race in Open National Games in 1998 by 0.27 seconds.

Around four hundred citizens including CRPF personnel participated in the event.
Later at Purana Quila an awareness lecture and cultural programme were organized to dispel the myths surrounding AIDS. Lov Kumar, Secretary, NACO and Suneeta Trivedi, President, CRPF Wives Welfare Association (CWWA) were present during the event.
The Central Reserve Police Force has a pan-India presence and is associated with the awareness campaign on AIDS for more than 10 years.
The force is also deployed in several border areas apart from the North East areas of the country which are affected by this menace due to lack of awareness.
